We are sorry we were unable to have a proper prize giving last night,
as we said we were over whelmed by the number of entries

Just to let you know we have everybody laps marked down, we now have to count and check them before we can give out the results. We hope to have this down within the next 48hrs

After a massive influx of entries last week we realised the numbers the course, the tent village and lapscoring could handle are at their limits so we had to stop accepting entries.
For those of you who have entered hopefully you should have received an email out lining rego,parking etc if you haven't please send an email to www24hr@gmail.com with "rego" in the subject line
The weather forecast is for fine weather but it will still be muddy and in some place's very!

We have almost finalized the course
as the contactors are in the park gravelling Snails Westside and Return as I type this
The Trail pixes where spotted in the park last night (yes in the dark doing their best glow worm impersonations) doing some sweetening to Snails

at this stage what I can tell you is

Up Jungles
Down Snails
Down Wetlands across the short single track at the Bottom
Up the Fireroad
Through Westside
Down Beeline Extension (the optional easy line around the 2 drops will be open)
As for the rest, that is the bit we have to sort out but we should have roughly a 6.5 km course which whippets should crack out in around 22-25 mins

The 6hr Wurldz

The Wainuiomata Winter Weekender “6hr Wurldz” is a brand new event that aims to draw NZ’s endurance and XC riders to experience the amazing network of trails being developed by the Wainuiomata Trail Project just north of Wellington City.

While the proposed course is not super technical, it should be ridable by most who have some experience of MTBing, it has plenty of challenges to keep everyone on their toes. If you solo it you will feel it by the end!

This will be an ‘old skool’ event run purely for the benefit of the riders, run on the smell of an oily rag – any proceeds will be put towards the continuing trail project. Mud and silly grins guaranteed!

It will be held on Saturday 22 May, running from 10am to 4pm.

Due to reasons beyond our control we are no longer able to run the 12 & 24hr option this year

We tried hard to over come these issues in the short time frame we had, but felt it best for everybody for us to only run the 6hr event this year

We have added Duo (two person) and Quad (four person) options to the 6hr

So please come and race the 6hr and let us know what you want for next year...

General Information

This is a No Frills event, run entirely by Volunteers

All profits from this event will be going back to the Wainuiomata Trail Project

This event is going to take your help to make it a success:- ie getting your entries in As Soon as Possible will help

There will by a larged newly grassed area that will be avaiable for tents etc but driving on it will be weather dependant.

No naked flames are allowed. .

At this stage there you will also need to supply any water required for drinking, cleaning etc

Food
We have a local Kindy Interested in putting on a sauge sizzle and we try and get a coffee cart there also

There is a Fish & Chip shop at the beginning of Waiu st and a dairy with in approx 800metres (ie a short ride away)
Wainuiomata has a shopping centre with a supermarket, etc

Accommodation

There is 1 motel in Wainuiomata www.parklandsmotel.co.nz/
There are also a number of motels in Lower Hutt within a 15min drive AA Accomodation Guide

Rules

Start
The Event will start with a Le Mans type start

Finish
To be deemed a Finisher you or your team must start a your lap with in 2hrs of the finish time and must finish it within 1hr of the finish time
ie: last lap must started after 2pm and must finish between 3pm and 4pm

however anyone/team completing more than 50% of the laps of the lead rider/team in their category but does not fulfill the finish requirement will be deemed to have finished but will be placed after anyone who has.

Timing
All riders must dismount and walk/jog their bikes through the timing zones.

Basic Team Rules:

Rider etiquette is expected to be practiced on the course. Riders can ride in any order they wish. Teams can change the order of their riders. Each rider from a team must complete at least one lap. One person must be designated as the Captain of the team. Captains are responsible for ensuring the team is registered correctly (information is correct), attending the Riders Meeting prior to the race and dealing with event officials in the event of problems or concerns.

Note: An important element to team dynamics and enjoying the event is to join or start a team with people who have the same objective in mind. Someone who wants to win on the same team with someone who is there for the social aspect can lead to conflict. Only you can determine team dynamics.

Minimum Age Requirement:

All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release waiver. Additionally, all participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present on site for the entire duration of the event. Participants must be a minimum of 12 years of age.

Rider Etiquette:

Be nice, 99% of participants are there to have fun.

No foul language toward other riders.

Let other riders know when you are passing. i.e. coming up on a slower rider, indicate "passing on the LEFT or right ". Allow for riders to move over or reach an area suitable for passing.

If you are the rider being passed, listen to which side they are going to pass on, be courteous and allow the rider to go by. You do not have to stop riding to let them pass.

Note Solo's have right of way. There is to be no shadow riding, you may only have 1 team member on the course at any one time.

There is to be no use of MP3 players, Ipod's or similar personal entertainment systems

If a rider is injured, check to ensure they are alright and assist if needed.

Any teams/riders failing to comply will get a 1 lap penalty,
Any teams/ riders unnecessarily annoying officials - marshalls etc will risk a 2 lap penalty

The Course

We have not yet finalised the exact course yet as we are still building some of the trails
but we working on a course of about 6.5km including grade 2,3&4 trails and a 1.7 km single track climb

At this stage we plan to use Jungles, Jungle Scout, Scout Return, Snails, Wetlands, Westside, Beeline extention (the "BE" easy line will be open)

this video has been taken going down the trail the course will be travelling up, although the last section Jungle Scout from 3:06 is in the correction direction
